The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder which means just one thing: winter is right around the corner.
This can really throw a spanner in your hair care routine as cold weather can often make silky manes brittle and dry, resulting in many of us forcing our hair into a messy up ‘do instead of having our luscious locks on full display.
Luckily we found a few easy steps to keep your tresses in perfect condition for the coldest months of the year. Brrrr.
Amp up your hairs moisture levels
Frizzy hair can often feel impossible to tame but shhh we have the secret to achieving a frizz-free texture no matter your hair type.
The trick is to balance the moisture inside the inner structure of each strand. When the hair shaft is balanced with the correct amount of moisture it means the harsh winter air will not cause havoc – winning!
If this sounds complicated, it means you need to get your hands on a deep moisturising shampoo and conditioner that will help repair hair damage by penetrating inside the hair shaft. Check out our Rapid Repair range here.
Shampoo less frequently
Cold nights and icy days can make the scalp itch, flake and dry - ugh, and no one wants to be scratching their head at the dinner table.
To avoid a dry scalp, avoid products with sulphate and parabens and shampoo less. Although it sounds counterproductive it means you won’t dry out your skin.
Have weekly hair treatments
We might sound like a broken record but applying hair treatments is important. Doing this will help your hair replenish its moisture levels as it often dries out in the winter due to the lack of moisture in the air.
Don’t go outside with damp hair
Although it might be tempting to run out of the house mid hair dry to catch the bus, your hair is more vulnerable when wet and in the cold weather water molecules in the hair can expand, making it more likely to break.
We know we sound like your momma but avoid going outside with wet hair at all costs! Trust us.
Psst! You'll love our products because they're free from parabens, sulphates and DEA (not to mention, Australian-made and cruelty-free!). Shop our nasty-free, so-good-you-could-eat-them (almost) hair care here.
